Vote Results

September 12, 2024

Over 1200 IAM members from Boeing Portland joined with 33,000 IAM members in Washington, today to vote on Boeing's first fully negotiated contract in 16 years. Our membership soundly rejected this offer by over 95% with over 90% of our Portland membership voting and reaffirmed our Strike Sanction vote by over 96%. This contract proposal did not fully make up for the stagnated wages and retirement that our members were unable to address at the bargaining table, after 16 years.

Although this offer was recommended by the negotiating committee, our membership said that the gains were not enough. Brandon Bryant said, “Our members hold the final say on each and every contract. They have shown power and solidarity, in the months leading up to this vote through rallies and marches in the factory. During our history in negotiations with Boeing, our members are not shy to make their voices heard, through making noise every hour on the hour in the shop, or by voting to reject a contract and ratify a strike.”

Our members will be gathering across the street from Boeing Portland at 11:30pm in anticipation of walking across the street and setting up a picket line at Boeing. We expect to notify the company that the negotiation team is ready and willing to get back to the table as soon as they are. We will be seeking improvements in many areas, that our membership has identified as lacking in this first proposal.  There will also be a picket line also set up at the PDX Boeing Paint Hanger.
