Members,
Because of your determination and unity, together we have ratified a new contract that lays out a solid foundation for our future. We believe that everyone has a vote, and the majority is the deciding factor, and those votes are personal and sacred. It goes without saying that this was not a unanimous outcome, but because our membership voted and had their collective voices heard, it is the right outcome. No matter what your vote was, we ask that we continue to grow the unity and solidarity that has blossomed throughout our negotiations and strike.
We now have the opportunity to return our valuable labor to our employer and help them become, again, a Company with the highest skilled and dedicated employees, making the highest quality and safest airplanes in the world. There is a large responsibility for Boeing to uphold their part of that responsibility and we will continue to do our best to hold them accountable to that standard. Opportunities are only as useful and important as the effort one puts into making them happen. We have given our best effort, as evidenced by our Strike, and were able to force Boeing farther than they were willing to go.
We have held a successful strike. That is not always the case, but in ours – we can claim victory. With over 2 billion dollars in increases from Boeing’s September offer, we can say we won. And yes, we did not achieve “everything” that “everyone” wanted, but we did achieve the largest union contract in Boeing and IAM history. You can be proud of this new foundation that we have a chance to build on. There is opportunity and a future ahead of us, and that is brighter and bolder than ever.
Together we have achieved more than ever. And it is together that we will continue our work. Please continue to show each and every sister and brother the respect they deserve. Do not let our differences divide us, but let our uniqueness be a strength we can draw from. Every member is a valuable part of our Local and our Union. Take all of the positives we have accomplished in our strike and let’s turn that into a more unified and stronger membership.
We now turn the page to returning to work and returning to what we do best. Together, as one Union, we will enforce all the terms and conditions of the new collective bargaining agreement. We will continue to support our members, do great work in our communities, grow our solidarity, and fight for what is right and fair for our members and all workers. A Union is about being stronger together. Our Union has been and will continue to be stronger because our members stand together. Our future starts now, and our fight will never waver.
It doesn't seem like this tells us the vote results. Is this yes or no?
Disappointed
